Preface
Water is one of the most essential natural resources for sustaining life, ecosystems, and economic development. Rapid industrialization, urbanization, and population growth have significantly contributed to the deterioration of water quality, making access to clean and safe water a major global challenge.
This book, Water Pollution and Advanced Nanotechnology Solutions, presents a comprehensive and interdisciplinary approach to understanding the global water crisis and the technological innovations developed to address it. The text explores water pollution, wastewater treatment technologies, and the emerging role of nanotechnology and photocatalysis in environmental remediation.
The book begins with an overview of the socio-economic and environmental implications of the global water crisis. It then examines chemical and biological pollutants, their sources, and their impacts on human health and ecosystems. Conventional and modern wastewater treatment methods are critically analyzed, followed by an in-depth discussion of nanotechnology-based approaches for sustainable water purification.
Designed for undergraduate and postgraduate students, researchers, academicians, and professionals in environmental science, chemistry, physics, and engineering, this book serves as both a foundational reference and a guide for future research in sustainable water treatment technologies.
The editors hope that this work will inspire innovative scientific solutions and contribute toward ensuring clean and safe water resources for future generations.
